Cylindrical roller bearings are produced with several different variations on their internal design.
Cylindrical roller bearings are classified into the following types, depending on whether they have ribs on their rings:
- Type NU – Two solid ribs on the outer ring and an inner ring without ribs. This type is suitable as a free-end bearing.
- Type N – The inner ring has two solid ribs and the outer ring has no ribs. This type is suitable as a free-end bearing.
- Type NJ – Two solid ribs on the outer ring and the inner ring has one rib. This bearing can therefore sustain limited axial loads in one direction.
- Type NUP – Two solid ribs on the outer ring and the inner ring has one rib and flat angle ring. (HJ type L-shaped thrust collar.)
An NJ-type bearing with a HJ-ring can perform the same function as an NUP-type bearing.

Cylindrical roller bearings, EW series
EW series cylindrical roller bearings for demanding applications, offer an innovative, internal bearing design that guarantees high load capacity, toughness, low noise and a longer operating life. These bearings have a high-strength steel cage with a special wear-resistant structure and a larger number of rollers. EW CRB are suitable for high speeds and even high temperatures. These bearings have up to twice the operating life of standard roller bearings. The main application of EW roller bearings is in larger electric motors, transmissions, compressors, paper machines and other demanding operations.
Cylindrical roller bearings, EM series
EM series cylindrical roller bearings for demanding applications, offer an innovative, internal bearing design that guarantees high load capacity, toughness, low noise and a longer operating life. These bearings have a high-strength and wear-resistant, machined brass cage and a larger number of rollers. High cage strength ensures excellent performance in vibrating devices.
These bearings have up to twice the bearing life of standard roller bearing. The main application of EM cylindrical roller bearings is in gearboxes, paper machines and the construction and steel industries.
